Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Michigan with a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering. He is also the first student to accomplish PhD degree within two years with a focus on the development of the novel optofluidic lasers at the cellular and tissue level for biomedical and clinical applications. Since 2012, he has already co-authored more than 30 scientific journals/proceedings/patents, while a start-up company is being formed to market the optofluidic biolaser technology in cellular/ tissue imaging based on his pioneer work in PhD. Currently, he is working as a postdoctoral fellow under Professor Xudong Fan's lab. My research mainly lies in two fields, (1) translation medicine research: to design the prototype of Laser-emission microscopy for clinical applications. (2) neural-engineering: novel on-chip biolasing device for optical recording of neural network activities and drug testing.
