Dr. Dahmer received her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago and accepted her first faculty position in theDepartment of Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. It was there that Dr. Dahmer first became interested in pediatric critical illness, especially in the development of pediatric acuterespiratory distress syndrome (PARDS) and severe sepsis. Previous to joining the University of Michigan in the Department of Pediatrics in 2013 she was on the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the MedicalCollege of Wisconsin (2006-2013) where she was the Director of Pediatric Critical Care Research. Dr. Dahmer was a member of the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury Consensus Conferences 1 and 2 and was also on theeditorial Board of Critical Care Medicine from 2014-2017. Dr. Dahmer was the Associate Fellowship Director of Research in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine from 2014-2021. She directs several translational researchprojects related to critical illness in children, including two funded by the NIH on which she is a principal investigator, Leveraging Biomarkers to Identify Subphenotypes in Children with Acute Respiratory DistressSyndrome (R21 HD097387), and Endotypes in Children with Severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome: Impact on Response to Treatment (ENSNARE, 1R01HL149910). These projects are the result of collaborationsdeveloped through the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators network. Dr. Dahmer has been a member of PALISI since 2007 and has served on the Scientific Steering Committee since 2011.
