Dr. Cristiane Squarize is an associate professor with tenure at the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She is a clinician-scientist and the Principal Investigator leading the Laboratory of Epithelial Biology.

Dr. Squarize served as vice president and president of the AADR Michigan Division Chapter and currently is a faculty affiliated to the Global REACH Faculty Affiliate (GRA) program at the University of Michigan Medical School, and Leader-coordinator responsible for the Latin America Outreach program from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She is currently a council member for AADR/AADOCR. She earned a DDS, followed by a master's degree and Ph.D. in Oral Pathology. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, she spent five years at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), studying stem cell biology, epithelial biology, and oral and pharyngeal cancer. Currently, her research encompasses regenerative strategies to manage the recovery of the mucosa and skin epithelial barrier. Dr. Squarize also conducts an active research program on soft tissue bioprinting, and her research interest involves critical care and treatment of burns.

Dr. Squarize's work has been funded by the NIH and foundation grants. She has been serving in the review panels for NIH and the US Department of Defense (DoD) Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), among others.
